Have you noticed when you open or switch applications on your smartphone or tablet that pages and screens literally zoom out or flip over to transition from one thing to the next? In tech terms, these are known as animations. Animations can help you see exactly what is opening on your gadget. But there's just one problem: Those pretty animations use up a lot of your gadget's power to play so smoothly on your screen.
Because animations use so much processing power, they can slow down other more important functions like downloading email or streaming video. But there's an easy solution. Speed up those animations so they happen quicker and they will waste less of your gadget's computing power, leaving more of it to accomplish the things you want to do. It may seem like a complicated process, but I'm here to walk you through it!
I'm going to step through each step first. Farther down the page are step-by-step screen shots to show you what to look for and where to click on each menu. Start by going to the “Developers options” menu.
Find Developers options here: Settings>>About phone. Find the “Build number” option and tap it exactly seven times.
Tap "Software info" to exit back to the main “Settings” page. A “Developer options” icon is near the bottom of the list of main settings options.
Tap “Developer options.” On the next screen, scroll down to the three settings options labeled “Window animation scale,” “Transition animation scale” and “Animator animation scale.” These options may be located within an “Advanced” tab.
These options are probably set to a factory default of “1x” on your gadget. Tap each setting to “.5x.” If there is any confusion, just follow the graphic below. Shortening transitions will make your Android smartphone and tablet seem better than new!
Many phone manufacturers and cellphone providers pre-install extra apps on your smartphone or tablet. You didn't ask for these apps and you may never use them, but they are embedded in your gadget's software. Worse yet, these large applications can bog down your Android, causing it to run slower than molasses in January. Fortunately, there is an easy trick to help you dump these apps and speed up your phone.
These apps, better known as bloatware, should not be deleted permanently. Some bloatware applications are connected to essential software that runs your gadget. Deleting them can make your device run poorly. But you can safely disable them to help get the most out of your Android smartphone or tablet.
To disable bloatware, you need to access your “Settings” page: Settings>>Apps>>All Apps.
Scroll down through every application on your smartphone and find the titles that you don't care to use.
Click on each app that you wish to disable and select the “Disable” option at the top right of the screen. The good news is that if you ever need to reactivate the app, go back to the app page and simply reverse the process above. You will see an "Enable" button next to each disabled app.
