How to Send and Receive Audio Text Messages by iPhoneLife

Within the Messages app, you can send and receive audio messages with other iPhone users. This lets you send brief recordings of music, a voice birthday message, and more. One of my best friends and I enjoy sending audio recordings back and forth, having a full conversation using audio messages. The audio messages you send also disappear after a set amount of time unless the recipient taps Keep. Sending and receiving audio messages is a fun way communicate with your voice without being on the phone. Here’s how to send and receive audio text messages.
To do this:
·         Open the Messages app and start or continue a conversation thread.
·         Press and hold the microphone icon to the right of the text entry box in Messages to record.
·         Lift your finger to end recording.

·         To hear the message playback, press the arrow.

·         To delete the recording, press the X.

·         To send the message, press the up arrow.

To listen to an audio message you received:
·         Press the play button on the recording.
Once you’ve listened to an audio message you've received or sent an audio message you've recorded, you can choose to keep it, even if you have chosen to have audio messages otherwise automatically deleted after two minutes. Just tap the word Keep that appears for a time under the message. Audio messages you choose to keep must be deleted manually.
