The ultimate abbreviations cheat sheet for deciphering texts in 2016 By Meredith Cunningham

Text messages are a great way to send quick messages when you're in a rush or can't talk. All you need is three letters, such as a quick "OMW" text, and the person receiving your message knows that you are "on my way."

However, everything can be shortened into an acronym. And if you don't know the new, shorter texting language by heart, you're stuck figuring out what the flood of acronyms and abbreviations could possibly mean.
You might have seen the screen shot of a text message conversation between a mother and daughter:

Mom: What does IDK, LY and TTYL mean?
Daughter: I don't know, love you, talk to you later.
Mom: OK, I will ask your sister.

Little did that mom know that her daughter was actually answering her questions, not blowing her off. And that's exactly why we've come up with a cheat sheet to help you master the shorthand text language.

It has a continually updating list of online acronyms, along with where their various meanings and origins.
