A cheat sheet for your new Samsung Galaxy S5

Here are our a list of things to know about your new Samsung Galaxy S5:

The sync/charger cable for the cellphone is a USB 3.0 cable. Before you buy another cable for your car charger, you may have a cable from your old Blackberry or camera that will do the job. Under the place where you would plug your sync/changer cable are two openings. The USB 3.0 cable fits into both openings. Your old Blackberry cable needs to fit into the larger opening.

USB 3.0                                                             USB 2.0

To conserve your battery, change from High Accuracy to Power Saving in the Location setting under Settings. Unfortuately, when you need turn by turn directions in the Map application, you will need to change the Location setting back to High Accuracy. The Map application will prompt you to do this before you can see turn by turn directions.

I gave up on the finger print reader to unlock the cellphone. No matter how careful I was with the "swipe", it always took more than one swipe to authenticate my finger print.

Forget iCloud. All Android cellphones use Gmail as a way to synchronize contacts, tasks and calendars.

A good cellphone case such as an OtterBox is even more important than your old iPhone. Screen replacement for a Samsung Galaxy S5 is $200. Your iPhone's screen was $100 to replace.

iTunes does not work on Android cellphones. A free application such as doubleTwist (available from the Google Play store) will convert your iTunes library and play your music on your cellphone.
